Dana M. Womack, PhD, RN, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Informatics & Clinical Epidemiology at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), affiliated with both the School of Medicine and School of Nursing. Her research focuses on applying data science to challenges in healthcare systems, including clinician workload, well-being, and system resilience. She holds an AHRQ-funded K12 fellowship from the NW Center of Excellence in Patient-Centered Learning Health Systems Science.
Education: B.S. (Andrews University, 1993), M.S. (University of Utah, 2000), Ph.D. (OHSU, 2018). She completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the National Library of Medicine (2018).
Research interests include secondary use of ambient data (e.g., log files), real-time analytics, and nursing informatics. Her work emphasizes leveraging EHR data and simulation technologies to improve clinical workflows and workforce management.
Awards include two AMIA Student Design Competition wins (2014, 2016). Her publications span telehealth, clinician strain detection, and integrative oncology service optimization.
