Michelle Hicks

Michelle Hicks serves as an Adjunct Faculty member in the Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) Program at the School of Nursing, Boise State University, a position she has held since 2009. Concurrently, she practices clinically in adult and pediatric rheumatology at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise.

Her educational qualifications are:

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Family Nurse Practitioner, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (1999)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing, University of Texas (1994)
• Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science, Texas A&M University (1991)

Hicks' clinical expertise encompasses family practice, women's health, urgent care, in-patient internal medicine, and rheumatology. Her prior nursing roles in telemetry, medical ICU, and case management inform her teaching philosophy, which emphasizes the integration of art and science in nursing. She is committed to developing students' critical thinking and adaptability in the evolving healthcare landscape.

In the classroom, Hicks utilizes diverse teaching modalities including active learning, group work, and clinical case studies. She is an active member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Practitioners of Idaho, advocating for interdisciplinary collaboration and lifelong learning among healthcare professionals.
