Dr. Michelle Driedger is a Professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. She is also the Department Head and a proud member of the Manitoba Métis Federation. Her research focuses on health risk communication, vaccine hesitancy, and Indigenous health, particularly examining Métis communities' needs and public health controversies.

Dr. Driedger’s work explores how public health risks are communicated under uncertainty. She uses qualitative methods to study vaccine decision-making, risk perception, and knowledge translation. Her research includes collaborations with the Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) on projects like health promotion through culture camps and opioid/cannabis/tobacco studies. She also investigates doctor-patient conversations about unnecessary medical procedures.
Dr. Driedger has held a Tier II Canada Research Chair in Environment and Health Risk Communication (2006-2017) and was a Science Leadership Fellow at the University of Toronto (2013). Her research is supported by partnerships with the MMF Health and Wellness Department, the Canadian Immunization Research Network, and the Monarch Collaboration.
