Michele Chang is an Instructor in the Department of Architecture at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design (GSD), currently on leave for Spring 2025. She directs the independent practice JaJa Co and teaches architectural design, blending experimental approaches across film, installation, music, and built environments. Her research focuses on architectural representation, exploring how optics, digital media, and cultural production shape design-to-building translations.
- Education: Master of Architecture (Harvard GSD), Bachelor of Arts in International Relations (Johns Hopkins University)
Her work examines noise, vagueness, and historical techniques in architectural representation. Exhibitions include shows at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto Canada. Awards include the Architectural League Prize and fellowships from MacDowell Colony and Wortham.
Prior teaching roles include positions at Rice University, UC Berkeley, California College of the Arts, and Northeastern University. Her practice JaJa Co integrates experimental design methodologies with contemporary cultural critiques.
