Michel Anteby is a Professor of Management & Organizations at Boston University’s Questrom School of Business and Sociology at Boston University’s College of Arts and Sciences. He co-leads the Precarity Lab and holds a Research Fellow affiliation with the Centre de Sociologie des Organisations in Paris. His research explores how individuals sustain cultural and occupational identities through work practices, with studies on airport security officers, clinicians, puppeteers, and subway drivers.
He earned dual PhDs in Management (NYU) and Sociology (EHESS, Paris), alongside an MPA from Harvard’s Kennedy School. Notable awards include the ASQ Scholarly Contribution Award and the Saroj Parasuraman Award.
Key publications include *Moral Gray Zones* (Princeton, 2008), *Manufacturing Morals* (Chicago, 2013), and *The Interloper* (Princeton, 2024). His work examines workplace ethics, organizational culture, and the interplay between labor and identity.
Anteby’s academic roles include former chair of the Massachusetts LGBTQ Youth Commission and contributions to LGBTQ occupational segregation research. His interdisciplinary approach bridges sociology, management, and ethics.
