Michal S. Gal is a Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Haifa, Israel, and Director of the Forum on Law and Markets. She holds a Senior Fellow role in the Melbourne Law Masters (University of Melbourne) and has served as a Visiting Professor at NYU, Georgetown, Melbourne, and Lisbon. Her expertise spans competition law, antitrust, regulatory policy, and digital markets. She has authored seminal works like Competition Policy for Small Market Economies (Harvard University Press, 2003) and received prestigious awards for her research and teaching.
Professor Gal’s research focuses on competition law in small and developing economies, merger policy, and regulatory frameworks. Her work bridges law and economics, addressing challenges in micro and small economies. She has advised international organizations like the OECD, UNCTAD, and the International Competition Network (ICN) on competition law reforms.
Her accolades include recognition as a leading figure in global competition law (Global Competition Review, 2013) and top legal scholar in Israel (Globes, 2007). She currently teaches Competition in Digital Markets in the Melbourne Law Masters program (2025).
