Micahel Pride is a Professor of Architecture at the University of New Mexico’s School of Architecture + Planning (SA+P). Her research focuses on public interest design, community-driven strategies for urban development, and the intersection of architecture with public health equity. She holds a Master of Urban Design (MAUD) from Harvard University and a B.Arch from Arizona State University.
Her work includes leading projects via the Design and Planning Assistance Center (DPAC), such as the Central Corridor Neighborhood Study and the Stories of Route 66: International District plan. She co-leads the HIVE Collaborative, a campus-wide initiative addressing health disparities through design. She also directs the MS Architecture track in Public Health and the Built Environment.
Notable contributions include founding the Design Professionals’ Coalition post-1992 LA unrest and establishing the UK Downtown Design Center. Awards include ACSA’s Collaborative Practice Award (2004) and recognition as a 'Most Admired Design Educator' (2010).
Her teaching includes ARCH 450 (Design Leadership) and ARCH 691 (Sustainable Settlements). Professional service spans roles on the Cincinnati City Planning Commission, Con Alma Health Foundation’s Healthy Places committee, and design juries for major projects like the Oklahoma City Memorial and DC’s Anacostia Bridge Park.
