Canadian musician Michael van der Sloot (b. 1991) is a faculty member at Mount Royal University Conservatory and teaches at the Valhalla Summer School of Music and Calgary Music Academy's Summer Strings. A versatile educator, performer, and composer, he holds degrees in cello performance and composition, including a Bachelor of Music (2013) and two Master of Music degrees from Northwestern University (2015) and Southern Methodist University (2017).
His research and creative work focuses on cello performance, contemporary music composition, and advanced music theory. He has premiered numerous new works and collaborated with celebrated artists and ensembles such as the Escher String Quartet and Nadia Sirota.
