Michael Wu is a Professor in the Biostatistics Program of the Public Health Sciences Division at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and an Affiliate Professor in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Washington. He contributes to the Translational Data Science Integrated Research Center (TDS IRC) and the SWOG Statistical Center for cancer clinical trials.
His educational background includes:
- Ph.D. in Biostatistics from Harvard University (2009)
- A.M. in Biostatistics from Harvard University (2006)
- B.S. in Mathematical and Computational Science from Stanford University (2004)
Dr. Wu specializes in statistical methodology for translational science, with core expertise in omics data analysis (genomics, epigenomics, proteomics, metabolomics, metagenomics) applied to clinical trials, population studies, and disease domains including reproductive outcomes, autoimmune disorders, cardiovascular conditions, and environmental health impacts. His work bridges advanced biostatistics with real-world health challenges through the SWOG Statistical Center.
His professional honors include:
- Fellow of the American Statistical Association
- Robert Riffenburgh Award (2023)
- W.J. Youden Award in Interlaboratory Testing (2023)
- Chair of ASA Section on Statistics in Genomics and Genetics (2020)
As leader of the Wu Lab and active member of the TDS IRC, Dr. Wu drives collaborative research in data science applications for public health, focusing on methodological innovation in cancer and chronic disease research through biostatistical frameworks.
