Michael Whitson

Michael Whitson is a Senior Lecturer in Real Estate and Course Leader for the Undergraduate Real Estate program at London Metropolitan University. He combines academic and professional expertise as a 'pracademic,' with extensive private practice experience including running his own consultancy for 20 years. Currently, he chairs the RICS Assessment of Professional Practice for the Commercial Real Estate Pathway.

Research Interests: Focuses on commercial real estate valuation, development, landlord-tenant law, organizational management in surveying firms, and dispute resolution mechanisms. Advocates for integrating people management and team-building skills into professional education.

Professional Affiliations: Active member of RICS and former member of CIArb. Transitioned from part-time teaching at University College of Estate Management to full-time roles at the University of Westminster before joining London Met.
