Michael Wagner

Prof. Dr. Michael Wagner serves as Head of the Neuropsychology Cooperation Unit at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE), hosted by the University Hospital Bonn within the Faculty of Medicine. His research pioneers early detection methodologies for Alzheimer's disease during preclinical stages characterized by Subjective Cognitive Decline (SCD).

His research focuses on:

• Development of neuroscience-driven neuropsychological tools for objective/subjective cognitive assessment
• Associative memory paradigms targeting early Alzheimer's-affected brain regions
• Cognitive reserve mechanisms and nutritional influences on brain health
• Computerized/mobile cognitive testing via smartphone applications

Wagner provides methodological leadership for DZNE's observational and interventional studies, including cognitive assessment quality control. His unit collaborates with Emrah Düzel's Magdeburg group on automated speech analysis and SCD rating scale refinement within the BMBF-funded Diet-Body-Brain Research Cluster.
