Michael Sergi

Dr. Michael Sergi is an Associate Professor at Bond University's Faculty of Society & Design, specializing in screen and digital media. He holds a Doctorate from the University of Technology Sydney and has extensive industry experience directing over 100 hours of Australian and New Zealand TV dramas (e.g., Home & Away, Neighbours). His career includes producing award-winning films like 10 Days to Die and co-founding the Canberra International Film Festival as its artistic director for 13 years. Sergi is a member of professional guilds including the Australian Directors Guild and actively advises film festivals in Darwin and Gold Coast.

His research focuses on film authorship, creative education, and industry collaborations. He has published in Media International Australia and contributed to Tertiary Teaching: Doing it Differently, Doing it Better. Teaching includes advanced cinematic storytelling and directing actors.

Sergi’s professional milestones include judging roles at TV WEEK Logie Awards and leadership in cultural councils. He currently holds a PhD supervision role and has qualifications in leadership and higher education.
