Dr. Amin Palangi is a filmmaker and lecturer at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in the Screen Production department within the School of Arts, Design & Architecture. He holds a PhD in Film Studies from the Australian National University and an MA in Screenwriting from the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS).

His research and creative work focus on Cinema Studies, Iranian Cinema, Screen Media, and Virtual Reality (VR). He explores the intersection of storytelling and technology, particularly in documenting marginalized communities and extreme human experiences.
Dr. Palangi’s filmography includes award-winning works such as Love Marriage in Kabul (awarded at Fajr International Film Festival, Sydney Film Festival, and Walkley Awards) and short films like Hidden Generations, Immigrants and Cigarettes, and Close Distance. His creative projects often address themes of exile, identity, and social resilience.
