Joseph Bierman is an Associate Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Radio, Television & Film at Rowan University's Ric Edelman College of Communication & Creative Arts. He holds a B.A. from Rowan University, M.F.A. from New York University, and Ph.D. from Regent University. His teaching focuses on Film Production, Screenwriting, and International Cinema.
Dr. Bierman's research explores film production theory, international practices (especially Soviet Union and Ireland), and film festival culture. His films have screened in over 40 festivals, earning CINE awards for Araby and The Telltale Heart, with The Open Window premiering at the 2008 New Jersey International Film Festival.
Professional activities include conference presentations on Hitchcock's sound techniques, cultural competence in journalism, and Irish filmmaker Jim Sheridan's work. His publications span film editing methodologies, transnational cinema, and adaptation theory.
