Keir Politz is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radio, Television & Film at Rowan University, part of the Ric Edelman College of Communication & Creative Arts. He holds a B.A. in English from College of the Holy Cross and an M.F.A. in Film from Columbia University. His academic career includes prior teaching positions at Temple University and the University of Pennsylvania.
Politz specializes in film production and screenwriting, with a focus on narrative-driven projects. His works include the internationally recognized short film A Piece of America, feature film Detonator (nominated for an Independent Spirit Award), and the serial thriller Country of the Blind. His recent projects include the award-winning short Entropia and the screenplay La Pellegrina.
His research interests span film festival participation, genre filmmaking (particularly thrillers), and the intersection of cinematic narrative with technical craft. Current projects include development of the feature film Mister Wonderful.
Honors include Columbia University's John & Jane Smith Screenwriting Award and a departmental fellowship. His work has been screened at prestigious festivals including Cinequest, Brooklyn Film Festival, and Cork Film Festival.
