Dr. Michael Paul Lukie is an Associate Professor at the University of Winnipeg's Faculty of Education, specializing in secondary education curriculum and instruction for physics, science, and mathematics. He previously taught high school in Manitoba from 2002–2016 and holds leadership roles in professional organizations like the Manitoba Association of Physics Teachers (MAPT) and the Jungian Society for Scholarly Studies (JSSS).
Dr. Lukie earned a PhD in Secondary Education from the University of Alberta (2021), an MEd in Curriculum, Teaching, and Learning from the University of Manitoba, and degrees in Applied Mathematics, Classical Studies, Anthropology, and Education from the University of Manitoba and University of Winnipeg.
His research focuses on phenomenography, student understanding in physics, and engagement strategies in STEAM education. He collaborates with the Canadian Space Agency to design K–12 activities centered on lunar exploration and Canadian space initiatives. His teaching spans courses like EDUC-4732 (Mathematics for Teachers) and EDUC-4750 (Physics Curriculum).
Dr. Lukie advocates for scientific literacy through community outreach and professional development for educators, emphasizing inquiry-based learning and interdisciplinary approaches.
