Michael Owen

Michael Owen is a Professor of Psychological Medicine at the School of Medicine, Cardiff University (since 2004), where he also serves as Director of the MRC Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics (2009-present) and Deputy Head of the School of Medicine (2009-present). His career spans leadership roles in neuroscience and psychiatric genetics, including founding the Neuroscience and Mental Health Research Institute (2004-2014) and acting as Deputy Pro Vice Chancellor for Research (2012-2014).

His research focuses on psychiatric genetics, biological psychiatry, and neuroscience, particularly schizophrenia and genetic disorders. He has contributed to translational research through leadership in major academic institutions.
