Michael O'Brien

Michael O'Brien is an Academic Professor of Digital Communication at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), serving since 2021. He previously taught as Professor of Foundations at The Art Institute of Washington (2009). His professional career includes over a decade as a senior graphic designer at Abercrombie & Fitch (2014–2018) and Hollister Co. (2009–2014), leading creative direction for apparel and accessories. Since 2018, he has operated Wheelhouse Art, a freelance firm specializing in illustration and graphic design for brands like Nike, Wrangler, and American Eagle Outfitters.

• Education: M.F.A. and B.F.A. in Illustration, SCAD.

His work focuses on digital communication, graphic design, and illustration, with expertise in apparel branding and conceptual licensing. Awards include recognition from Creative Quarterly, Grey Cube Gallery, and the Association of Illustrators. He has exhibited in venues such as the Hero Complex Gallery and the Negro League Baseball Museum.
