Michael Murphy is a Buchanan Postdoctoral Fellow and Term Adjunct in Queen's University's Department of Political Studies, with affiliations to the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) and Queen’s Centre for International and Defence Policy. He holds a PhD from the University of Ottawa and an MA from Queen's University in Political and Legal Thought. His research bridges quantum social theory, local democracy governance, and pedagogical innovation in higher education.
Dr. Murphy's work focuses on applying quantum principles to international relations theory, exploring how non-classical frameworks can illuminate complex socio-political dynamics. He leads grant-funded projects analyzing security implications of emerging technologies and serves as PI on studies linking quantum strategy to defense policy. His pedagogical research emphasizes active learning, classroom design, and institutional policy for education innovation.
