James Murphy is a Clinical Professor of Management at Loyola University Chicago's Quinlan School of Business. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from DePaul University (2014) and has taught at Loyola since 2014, focusing on business ethics, values-based leadership, and entrepreneurship. Previously, he served as an adjunct instructor at DePaul (2011–2014) and taught in the Inside-Out Program at Stateville Correctional Facility.

His research explores intersections of critical social theory with business ethics, emphasizing the role of embodiment in moral and political autonomy. He has published in venues like the Palgrave Macmillan Handbook of Walter Benjamin and the SAGE Handbook of Frankfurt School Critical Theory.
