Dr. Michael Lee is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), specializing in pulmonary vascular diseases with a particular focus on pulmonary hypertension related to schistosomiasis and connective tissue disorders. His research integrates metabolomics, immunology, and vascular biology to uncover disease mechanisms and identify novel therapeutic targets.
Dr. Lee completed his medical training at New York University, earning his MD in 2013, followed by Internal Medicine Residency (2016) and service as Chief Resident (2017). He further specialized through a Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at the University of Colorado, completed in 2020.
His research program centers on the metabolic underpinnings of pulmonary hypertension, with significant contributions to understanding the roles of macrophages, T cells, and metabolic dysregulation in disease pathogenesis.
