معرفی
Michael Edetanlen is a Doctoral Researcher at the University of Hamburg's Institute of Marine Ecosystem and Fisheries Sciences within the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences. He works in the Department of Biology's Plankton Ecology and Evolution group, based in Office 107 at Olbersweg 24, Hamburg.
His research centers on environmental stressors affecting organism distribution, with specific focus on cyanobacteria evolution in warming aquatic ecosystems. Using molecular tools, he quantifies genetic and phenotypic trait variations in Dolichospermum spp. from the Baltic Sea to understand evolutionary responses to temperature changes. His work examines how phytoplankton blooms deteriorate water quality, release toxins, and alter nitrogen cycling.
Edetanlen actively contributes to the CYA-REMo (Cyanobacteria-Resurrection-Evolution-Modelling Studies) project, investigating long-term evolutionary dynamics of diazotrophic cyanobacteria and their ecosystem-wide consequences for biogeochemical processes under climate change scenarios.
