Samuel Barton is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Biology, MIN Faculty, University of Hamburg, within the Plankton Ecology and Evolution group led by Prof. Schaum. His work focuses on the evolutionary potential of harmful algal bloom (HAB) species in response to environmental stressors like warming and reduced salinity.

His current work centers on the BMBF-funded GreenHAB project, studying HAB species from Disko Bay (Greenland) through experimental evolution and field experiments.
Collaboration: His research involves partnerships with institutions in Greenland, aiming to transfer knowledge to local society. He is affiliated with the Institute of Marine Ecosystem and Fisheries Sciences (IMF) at the University of Hamburg.
