Dr. Michael Desborough is an Associate Professor of Haematology at the University of Oxford and a Consultant Haematologist in the Department of Clinical Haematology at Churchill Hospital, Oxford. He is affiliated with Linacre College and holds dual email addresses at the university and NHS institutions.

His research focuses on developing novel therapies for platelet disorders and alternatives to platelet transfusion, particularly in:
- Reversing antiplatelet drugs in intracerebral hemorrhage
- Optimizing fetal/neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia (FNAIT) treatment
- Clinical trials in transfusion medicine and immunohaematology
- Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP), immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), and autoimmune hemolytic disorders
Recent publications span clinical trials, transfusion strategies, and platelet biology, with emerging work on the environmental impact of clinical research. He leads the Desborough Group, which develops evidence-based approaches to platelet transfusion and related therapies.
