Dr. Michael A. Dauphinais holds multiple roles at Ave Maria University: Chair of the Theology Department, Fr. Matthew L. Lamb Professor of Catholic Theology, and Director of Graduate Programs in Theology. He also co-directs the Aquinas Center for Theological Renewal. His academic background includes a B.S. in Engineering from Duke University, an M.T.S. from Duke Divinity School, and a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from the University of Notre Dame.
His research focuses on C.S. Lewis' apologetics, Thomistic theology (especially Trinitarian themes), and the intersection of ancient and modern theological thought. He has authored/co-authored books such as Wisdom of the Word and edited volumes like Thomas Aquinas as Spiritual Teacher.
Dr. Dauphinais' recent work emphasizes integrating faith and reason, addressing contemporary theological questions through Aquinas' framework. His articles explore topics like divine communication, virtue ethics, and Newman's epistemology. He actively engages in public theology through the Catholic Theology Show podcast and speaking engagements.
His service includes directing the Catholic Studies Program and mentoring graduate theology students. He has been married to Nancy for nearly 30 years and is a committed Catholic revert.
