Michael Daniels is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Bioinformatics and Biostatistics at the University of Louisville School of Public Health and Information Sciences (SPHIS). He holds the position of Biostatistician III and specializes in applying advanced statistical methodologies to biomedical research. His work focuses on gene expression analysis in breast carcinoma, gastrointestinal motility disorders, and clinical outcomes research. Key research areas include biomarker discovery, semi-supervised learning algorithms, and translational applications of bioinformatics.
Dr. Daniels has contributed to studies on breast cancer recurrence prediction using LCM-procured gene expression data, gastric electrical stimulation efficacy for gastroparesis, and neurological outcomes after subarachnoid hemorrhage. His collaborative projects span neuro-oncology, gastrointestinal motility, and pediatric testicular torsion. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles and presented at international conferences.
Notable methodologies include semi-supervised hierarchical mixture models for integrative genomics and motility frailty indices for gastrointestinal dysfunction. His work bridges biostatistical rigor with clinical relevance, addressing unmet needs in cancer biomarker validation and device-based therapies.
