Michael Dana is an Associate Teaching Professor of Business Law and Course Coordinator at the Leavey School of Business, Santa Clara University. He transitioned to academia in 2012 after 13 years as a full-time business litigation attorney, practicing with major Arizona law firms (Snell & Wilmer, Quarles & Brady) and his own solo practice. His legal expertise spans commercial transactions, partnership disputes, real estate, intellectual property, securities, and employment law. Dana holds a B.S. (summa cum laude) in Rhetoric and Communication Studies from Arizona State University and a J.D. from the University of Arizona, where he served as Executive Note Editor of the Arizona Law Review.
His teaching focuses on integrating critical writing, argumentation, and communication skills into business law education. He has taught at both undergraduate and graduate levels, enhancing curricula with interdisciplinary insights from conflict resolution, public speaking, and business communication.
Dana’s professional experience bridges legal practice and academia, offering students practical insights into the legal challenges faced by businesses across diverse industries.
