Dr. Michael D Sweat is a tenured Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and Director of the MUSC Center for Global Health. He previously held roles as an Associate Professor and Director of the Social and Behavioral Interventions Program at Johns Hopkins University's Bloomberg School of Public Health. His research focuses on HIV prevention and global health, particularly in low-resource settings. He has led major studies such as NIMH Project Accept (HPTN 043), examining HIV testing and care integration with diabetes/hypertension management in Tanzania, and systematic reviews of HIV behavioral interventions through the Evidence Project.
