Michael Cushing

Michael Cushing is a Professor and Director of the Ritter Planetarium & Brooks Observatory. His research focuses on discovering and characterizing substellar objects using infrared telescopes and developing data reduction algorithms. Previously worked at NASA Ames and JPL.

Research emphasizes brown dwarf atmospheres and the substellar mass function. Recent work utilizes JWST for precise photometry of cold brown dwarfs and maintains the CatWISE motion survey catalog.
