Michael Braungart

Prof. Michael Braungart is a Professor of Eco-Design and Eco-Effectiveness at Leuphana University in Lüneburg, Germany (1994-present). He concurrently holds visiting professorships at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (2017-present), University of Virginia's Darden School of Business (2002-present), and other institutions. His academic career includes roles at Carnegie Mellon University (1995-1999), Bauhaus University Weimar, and the University of Wales Cardiff during the late 90s.

Prof. Braungart is co-founder of MBDC (McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry, 1995) and founder of EPEA GmbH (1987) and Hamburger Umweltinstitut (1989), both pioneering environmental agencies. He served as Senior Environment Expert at UNIDO (1988-2002) and played pivotal roles in Greenpeace's chemistry section (1982-1988). His work focuses on cradle-to-cradle design principles and eco-effective product systems.
