Prof. Dr. Bahri Sahin is a Professor at Yildiz Technical University's Faculty of Naval Architecture and Maritime, Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, where he has served since 1979. His career progression includes Research Assistant (1979-1983), Lecturer (1983-1986), Assistant Professor (1986-1989), Associate Professor (1989-1995), and Professor (since 1995). He held significant administrative roles including Deputy Head of Department (1988-1999), Division Head (1992-2007), Department Head (1999-2009), Founder Dean of Faculty (2009-present), and Rector of Yildiz Technical University (2016-2020).
His educational background includes a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Gazi University (1977), M.Sc. under TÜBİTAK scholarship from Yildiz Technical University (1979), and Ph.D. in Nuclear Technology under TÜBİTAK Honorary Scholarship from Istanbul Technical University (1985).
Prof. Sahin's research focuses on Thermodynamics, Energy Production Systems, and Optimization of Thermal Systems, with significant contributions to Energy Economy and Engineering Computing. His work demonstrates interdisciplinary integration across Mechanical Engineering and Energy Technologies, particularly in sustainable thermal system design.
