Prof. Mesut Güner is a distinguished academic and administrator with extensive experience in engineering education and scientific infrastructure. He holds a BSc from Istanbul Technical University (1988), MSc from Newcastle University (1989), and PhD from Newcastle University (1994). He served as a full Professor at Yıldız Technical University (YTU) from 2001 until his transition to administrative roles. Key positions include Rector of Alanya University (2022–2024), General Manager of Yıldız Teknopark AŞ (2016–2020), and Chairman of Ankara University Technopolis (2021–2022). Since September 2024, he has been Vice President of TÜBİTAK, Turkey's Scientific and Technological Research Council.
His career spans academic leadership, technology transfer, and national scientific governance. Prof. Güner has actively contributed to industrial projects as a coordinator and consultant, and held roles in the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) as a Board member. His expertise bridges naval architecture, marine engineering, and strategic academic administration.
