Prof. Dr. Michael Koerner serves as Professor and Dean at the Faculty of Interior Architecture, Architecture and Design (IAD) at Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences. He holds dual administrative roles as Budget Officer and Member of the Faculty Board, while overseeing laboratory operations for the Bau Lab (Construction Laboratory) and CAD Laboratory. His teaching portfolio includes Solid Building Construction and Advanced Project 2 courses.
Academic credentials include a Dipl.-Ing. in Architecture from Technical University of Darmstadt (1993) and doctoral work at Bauhaus University Weimar (1995-2000). Registered with the Bavarian Chamber of Architects since 2002, his professional foundation spans architectural practice, structural engineering, and sustainable building methodologies.
Research focuses on construction engineering and sustainable architecture, emphasizing three core principles: Stable Value (long-term building quality and user comfort), Cost-Consciousness (energy-efficient design with reduced operational costs), and Individuality (client-tailored architectural solutions). His work bridges academic theory with practical implementation through laboratory management and professional practice.
Professional leadership includes heading Planungsgruppe München (2012-present) while maintaining academic responsibilities. Laboratory oversight of Bau Lab and CAD Lab provides critical hands-on training infrastructure for construction technology and digital design methodologies within the faculty.
