Michael Bonshor is a Professor of Voice, Wellbeing, and Performance Psychology at Leeds Conservatoire, where he teaches solo voice and ensemble singing on the BA Acting and BA Actor Musician courses. He also contributes to the Conservatoire's MA in Musical Direction.

Michael’s research focuses on music psychology, particularly managing performance anxiety and confidence-building strategies for singers and conductors. His work bridges academic inquiry with practical application in performance psychology and wellbeing.
He has received notable awards, including a postdoctoral Early Career Fellowship at the Institute for Musical Research, Royal Holloway, University of London, and the Gerry Farrell Travelling Scholarship from the Society for Education, Music and Psychology Research.
A classically trained singer with international experience, Michael integrates his professional background as a voice teacher, accompanist, conductor, and workshop leader into his teaching and research. His findings have been published in peer-reviewed journals, presented at conferences, and featured in international media.
