Scott Johnson

Scott Johnson is a full-time Lecturer in Vocal Studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS), where he teaches vocal pedagogy, performance, and serves as a principal study tutor. Previously, he worked as a tutor at the Conservatoire du Kremlin-Bicêtre (Paris) and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (London). He holds a bachelor’s degree from GSMD (1997), a PGCE, and an MA (Distinction) from London University’s Institute of Education.

His research focuses on contemporary and historical approaches to vocal performance pedagogy, with a particular interest in integrating technology to enhance singer training. He has adjudicated at music competitions and festivals and regularly teaches at summer schools, including the Royal Conservatoire’s programs.

Johnson’s career includes music teaching in secondary schools and roles as an organist and Director of Music at a parish church in Essex. His work emphasizes interdisciplinary innovation and the evolving role of technology in music education.
