Mian Bi is an Honorary Research Fellow at Macquarie University's Dementia Research Centre within the Macquarie Medical School. He holds a PhD from the University of New South Wales and clinical qualifications from the University of Sydney, including a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). His research focuses on neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s and frontotemporal dementia, with emphasis on tau pathology and transgenic mouse models. He has contributed to studies on neuronal network dysfunction in Alzheimer’s, tau protein mechanisms, and the role of immunotherapy in neurological disorders. His work spans molecular biology, cellular neurobiology, and clinical outcomes of treatment strategies. Bi collaborates widely, with international publications in high-impact journals like Acta Neuropathologica and Brain. His research also explores stroke pathophysiology, protein aggregation, and genetic dysregulation in neurodegenerative contexts.
Education: Doctor of Philosophy (UNSW, 2018), Bachelor of Medical Science (Sydney, 2016), MBBS (Sydney, 2010). External role: Clinical Lecturer at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney.
Research interests include tau protein dynamics, neurodegenerative mechanisms, and translational therapies. Key areas: Alzheimer’s disease pathophysiology, TDP-43 proteinopathies, and the application of immunotherapy in dystonic seizures. His publications reflect a multidisciplinary approach combining molecular genetics, animal model studies, and clinical observations.
