Frederick Arnold, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of WashU Genetics at Washington University in St. Louis. His research focuses on TDP-43 proteinopathies, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), frontotemporal dementia (FTD), and Alzheimer’s disease (AD), aiming to uncover mechanisms linking TDP-43 dysfunction to neuronal death and identify therapeutic targets.
Research Interests:
- Investigation of TDP-43 pathology in neurodegenerative diseases
- Alternative polyadenylation (APA) regulation by TDP-43
- Role of MARK3 in tau phosphorylation and AD
- Genetic risk factors (e.g., ATXN3) in ALS
- Development of therapies targeting TDP-43 and ATXN3
Affiliations:
- Neurogenetics & Transcriptomics Group
- Neurodegeneration/HPAN Division
