Mevan Jayasinghe is an Associate Professor in the School of Human Resources and Labor Relations at Michigan State University (MSU), part of the College of Social Science. He holds a Ph.D. in Business (Management & Human Resources) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and dual bachelor’s degrees in Economics/Business and Biology from Lafayette College.
His research focuses on international human resource management (IHRM), transnational corporate social responsibility (CSR), labor standards in global supply chains, and employment discrimination. Key contributions include studies on voluntary labor code adoption’s impact on job quality and the operational benefits of such practices in emerging economies. He has been recognized with the International HRM Scholarly Research Award (2015 and 2020), the Best Dissertation Award (2013), and a Fellowship from Penn State’s Center for International Human Resource Studies.
Teaching includes graduate-level negotiation courses and an undergraduate capstone in Human Capital and Society. He received the Kruger Faculty Teaching Award (2022) and leads the MSU Human Capital Talent Partnership program, integrating academic internships with industry challenges. His service roles include editorial board memberships at Journal of Management and Academy of Management Perspectives, and leadership positions in the Academy of Management’s HR Division.
Professional activities span academic leadership (e.g., sponsorship chair roles), advisory board memberships (e.g., Ethical Apparel Index), and executive education on leadership. His work bridges theoretical research with practical implications for global labor practices, CSR, and organizational effectiveness.
