Mette Harder is a Lecturer at the Umeå School of Architecture, where she teaches in Studio 11 for Year 4-5 of the Architecture Programme and Year 1-2 of the Master's Programme in Architecture & Urban Design. Her work focuses on the intersection of architectural design and occupational health, with a particular emphasis on activity-based flexible offices. She has contributed to research projects examining workspace preferences, health outcomes, and productivity in modern office environments.
Her research group involvement includes the AKTIKON project, which investigates the impact of activity-based office designs on work environment, physical activity, and productivity in Örnsköldsvik Municipality. Recent projects include analyzing the effects of relocation to activity-based offices and evaluating interventions to promote physical activity in flex-office settings.
Key publications include studies on workspace preferences, health outcomes post-relocation, and process evaluations of workplace interventions. Her work bridges architectural design principles with empirical studies on human behavior and health in professional environments.
