Metin Hayri Acar is a Professor of Chemistry at Istanbul Technical University. His research focuses on polymer chemistry, materials science, and advanced polymerization techniques such as ATRP and RAFT. He leads projects on nanocomposite materials, shape memory polymers, and biomedical applications. His work includes designing polymers for drug delivery, ultrafiltration membranes, and medical imaging technologies. Key projects include 'Obtaining Cheap and Easily Processable Fuel Cell Membrane from Commercial Polymers by Controlled Polymerization' (2014-2021) and 'Phantom Preparation for Microwave Breast Cancer Imaging' (2021-2022). He has published extensively in journals like Journal of Applied Polymer Science and European Polymer Journal.
His research interests span copolymer synthesis, nanomaterials, and polymer-based medical solutions. Recent studies include N-alkylation ligand optimization for ATRP (2023), shape-memory PVDF copolymers (2019), and chitosan-based drug formulations for diabetes (2019). His work bridges fundamental polymer science with practical applications in healthcare and engineering.
Academic contributions include over 39 research outputs and 3 major funded projects. His articles frequently address polymer morphology, electrochemical properties, and material performance under varying conditions.
