Merete Thomassen is an Associate Professor in Liturgical Studies at the Faculty of Theology, University of Oslo. Her work focuses on liturgical language, feminist theology, and theological anthropology in worship practices. She previously served as a parish minister and chaplain before joining academia. Current roles include membership in the National Committee for Worship and Liturgy (Church of Norway) and Societas Liturgica. Her research examines gender-inclusive liturgical language and modern liturgical reforms. Key works include Gender Inclusive Liturgical Language (2008) and When You Pray (2013). Awards include Honorary Membership in Norwegian Association of Women Theologians (2014).
