Merel A. Visse is an Associate Professor at the University of Humanistic Studies (UVH) in the Netherlands, where she focuses on moral creativity in a caring society. Her interdisciplinary work bridges humanities, ethics, and artistic practice.

Dr. Visse's approach to care, morality and creativity is not instrumental but a way of being central to our humanity. She works with artistic modes of inquiry to understand moral dimensions of care and to develop 'care imaginaries' through a fusion of language, drawing, painting and installation.
She is actively engaged in academic discourse, recently participating in a Trust in Science discussion initiated by the Dutch Embassy in collaboration with the Swedish Embassy in September 2025. Her work explores the transition 'from authority to dialogue; from truth to meaning,' arguing that trust in science requires collaborative dialogue rather than one-way transmission of knowledge.
Dr. Visse is working on a book titled 'Precarious Knowing' with colleagues and has been involved with the CERC in South-Korea 2026 on 'Reconfiguring Relations.' Her work results in scholarly publications, talks, workshops, projects, and exhibitions that explore the intersection of care, ethics, and creative practice.
