Meng Yuan is an Institute Investigator in the Department of Integrative Structural and Computational Biology at The Scripps Research Institute. Her work focuses on structural biology, immunology, and virology with emphasis on antibody-antigen interactions and viral pathogenesis.
Education:
- PhD in Structural and Molecular Biology, University of Edinburgh (2012–2016)
- MSc in Nutrition and Food Safety, Tianjin University of Science and Technology (2009–2012)
- BSc in Food Safety, Jiangnan University (2005–2009)
Research Interests: Structural basis of antibody neutralization, SARS-CoV-2 spike protein dynamics, HIV fusion mechanisms, and enzyme regulation in pathogens. Her lab employs X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, and computational methods to study viral immune evasion strategies.
Notable Awards:
- 2021 C&EN Research of the Year
- 2020 Protein Data Bank Molecule of the Month
- 2012 Darwin Trust Postgraduate Scholarship
Grants/Labs: Active projects include NIH-funded studies on antibody engineering for pandemic preparedness and structural analysis of coronaviruses. Collaborates with virology and computational teams at Scripps and global institutions.
