Melody Terras

Melody Terras is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Education and Social Sciences, University of the West of Scotland. She holds a PhD from the University of Glasgow (1997) and is a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol) and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (AFBPsS). Her academic roles have spanned institutions including Heriot-Watt University and the University of Strathclyde.

Her research focuses on education and health, particularly the psycho-social aspects of dyslexia, inclusion of individuals with learning disabilities, and accessible healthcare information. She leads projects like the RS Macdonald Charitable Trust-funded initiative to address dementia-friendly community needs in Girvan, collaborating with NHS Ayrshire and Arran. Key interests include digital literacy, educational technology, and carer involvement in healthcare decision-making.

Recent research highlights include evaluating telecare systems in Scotland, exploring European identity through educational games, and advancing accessible information practices for people with learning disabilities. Awards include recognition from the British Psychological Society.
