Rhoda MacRae

Dr. Rhoda MacRae is a Reader at University of the West of Scotland's School of Health and Life Sciences, specializing in dementia research. Her expertise includes dementia in criminal justice systems, caregiver support, and dementia education. She leads interdisciplinary research communities funded by RS Macdonald Trust and has held visiting positions at University of Saskatchewan.

Current projects include Dunhill Medical Trust-funded research on prison dementia care and RSE workshops exploring cognitive screening in correctional facilities. Her work has influenced dementia policies through collaborations with NHS Education Scotland and Healthcare Improvement Scotland.

Honored with Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence and Herald Higher Education Award for community contribution, MacRae develops evidence-based educational programs for healthcare professionals. Her research addresses critical gaps in dementia care for vulnerable populations, particularly incarcerated individuals.
