Dr. Melody S. Goodman is Professor of Biostatistics and Interim Dean at NYU School of Global Public Health. A biostatistician and research methodologist, she investigates social determinants of health inequities and develops evidence-informed prevention strategies. She founded and directs the Center for Antiracism, Social Justice, & Public Health and created the Research Engagement Survey Tool for evaluating community partnerships.
Her NIH-funded research examines structural barriers to health equity through community-engaged approaches. Recent publications analyze neighborhood effects on genetic testing access, health literacy disparities, and medication shortage impacts. She authored two textbooks: 'Public Health Research Methods for Partnerships and Practice' and 'Biostatistics for Clinical and Public Health Research'.
Research focuses on developing culturally competent solutions through collaborations with community organizations. Current projects leverage mixed methods to understand racial disparities in healthcare access and develop interventions promoting health equity. Her work has been recognized with the 2021 Societal Impact Award from the Caucus for Women in Statistics.
