Melissa Mashner is an Adjunct Professor of Flute at Adrian College and Concordia University, with affiliations to the Department of Performing Arts. She is a professional flutist active with orchestras including the Ann Arbor Symphony, Flint Symphony, and Lexington Bach Festival Orchestras. As former President of the Southeast Michigan Flute Association, she balances performance, teaching, and chamber music.

Her research interests focus on flute performance, chamber music collaboration, and music education. She has performed internationally in Austria and England, soloing with orchestras like the Rochester Philharmonic and Finger Lakes Symphony. Melissa’s work includes world-premiere performances with composers Jack Nesser and Kenneth E. Kreuzer, and she co-founded the Angelus Duo.

- Recipient of the National Dream Support Grant (2015) for musical study in Vienna
She actively mentors students through teaching and new music projects, emphasizing outreach to young musicians. Melissa also performs on a Straubinger Flute and collaborates with institutions like the Michigan Sinfonietta and Cleveland Symphony Orchestra.
