Alyce Johnson serves as an Adjunct Lecturer in Flute Performance at DePaul University's School of Music. She maintains an active professional performance career as the piccolo player with the Chicago Lyric Opera Orchestra and second flutist with both Grant Park Symphony and Music of the Baroque.
Ms. Johnson earned her Bachelor of Music from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, followed by her Master of Music and Performer's Certificate from the Eastman School of Music. Her musical development was further enhanced through participation in prestigious summer festivals including the Tanglewood Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, and the Aspen Music Festival.
Her professional experience includes four years as principal flutist with the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra and a season with the New World Symphony Orchestra. She has performed as a soloist with numerous ensembles including the Chicago Philharmonic, Shanghai Symphony, Erato Chamber Orchestra, Bach Week Festival, and the UNC-Chapel Hill Symphony. Additional orchestral credits include performances with the Chicago Symphony, Boston Symphony, National Symphony, and St. Louis Symphony.
Ms. Johnson is active in the flute community, having performed multiple times at the National Flute Convention and served as a judge for their Young Artist, Piccolo, and Orchestral Master class competitions.
