Lucie Jones is a Dutch-born flutist and Winds Faculty member at the Mount Royal University Conservatory. She serves as principal flute of the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra and has been an extra player with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra since 2005. A celebrated performer, she has won major competitions including the University of Calgary Concerto Competition and the National Flute Association Performer's Competitions in 2008 and 2010. Jones maintains a busy flute studio at the Conservatory and founded the Mount Royal Chamber Flutes.
Her performance engagements include collaborations with ensembles such as the Calgary Bach Society, Land's End Ensemble, and the Looking Glass Duo (flute and harp). As a member of StoryMusic, she performs year-round interdisciplinary works. Jones also serves as an adjudicator and clinician, and previously held leadership roles in Calgary's music societies.
Educationally, she holds degrees from the University of Toronto (B.Mus.) and University of Calgary (M.Mus.) in music performance, with a unique background including a B.Sc. in Computer Science and prior work as a software engineer. Her teaching emphasizes chamber music, having developed programs like the Sound and Science school concerts with the Perfect Cadence Woodwind Quintet.
