Liza Scriggins is a Lecturer at Mount Royal Conservatory since 2009, specializing in Early Childhood and Strings instruction. She holds a BA from Williams College and an M.Mus. from the New England Conservatory of Music under Marcus Thompson and Burton Fine. Her career spans performances with orchestras like the Calgary Philharmonic, National Ballet, and Vermont Symphony, alongside chamber groups such as Land’s End and the Allegra String Quartet.
Her educational background includes teaching roles at institutions like Studio Nine School of Music, Chinook Studio, and Boston-area schools including Arlington Public Schools. Liza is founder of StoryMusic, a project blending storytelling with chamber music for diverse audiences, recognized through grants and awards. Her 2021 production of Little Red Riding Hood with Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 11 exemplifies her creative approach to arts accessibility.
Award highlights include the 2006 WCMA Award for the Land’s End disc Rollin’ down #1 and grants supporting community-focused performances. She has performed under renowned conductors such as Seiji Ozawa and Sir Simon Rattle, further enriching her pedagogical and artistic contributions.
